Therapeutic Nutrition:

Nutrition is the cornerstone of Naturopathic Medicine. Naturopathic Doctors have a unique understanding of nutritional biochemistry and utilize dietary changes as an integral part of treatment. The doctors at the Makai Center take a thorough health history and evaluate your current diet to develop an individualized nutrition plan. Food can be your best medicine.

Homeopathy:

Homeopathy is a gentle yet effective system of medicine that is more than 200 years old. Homeopathy is based on the principle that 'Like cures Like'. Homeopathic medicines are minute doses of natural substances that can stimulate the body's self-healing response without side effects. Homeopathy may offer relief for conditions that conventional medicine has no effective treatment.

At Makai Naturopathic Center we practice several forms of homeopathy including, acute prescribing, constitutional homeopathy, as well as Biotherapeutic Drainage. Biotherapeutic Drainage is a unique form of homeopathy that decreases inflammation and promotes detoxification on a cellular level to stimulate the body's self-healing response.

Botanical Medicine:

Plants have powerful healing properties and Naturopathic Doctors have a thorough understanding of using herbal medicine safely and effectively in the clinical setting. Naturopaths combine knowledge of human physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and botanical medicine in their practice of herbal medicine. We are one of the only licensed health-care practitioners to fully understand and consider drug/herb and drug/nutrient interactions.

Hydrotherapy:

Water has powerful healing properties. The Makai Naturopathic Center uses a century old technique known as Constitutional Hydrotherapy as an important component of our annual group cleanse. Constitutional Hydrotherapy is a relaxing, spa-type treatment that strengthens the immune system and assists the body in detoxification. Makai Naturopathic Center also incorporates other forms of hydrotherapy into treatment plans when it is applicable.

Lifestyle Counseling:

Mental attitudes and emotional states can be important components to the healing process. Chronic stress is often a trigger that initiates disease. Naturopathic Doctors are trained in counseling, stress management, nutritional/emotional connections, and several forms of biofeedback. In addition, we investigate how your daily habits and patterns may be resulting in exposure to environmental toxins that may be contributing to disease.

Physical Medicine:

Naturopatic Doctors practice several methods of therapeutic manipulation of muscles and bones. Naturopaths use therapeutic exercise, massage, cranial-sacral therapy, hydrotherapy, and electro-therapies in the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints. Naturopathic treatment of physical pain honors the intricate relationship between the mind and body.
